Hope Ain't Cute

One of my pet peeves is when someone calls a hopeful person “cute”. Like—excuse you, no. I’m not being cute, I’m not giving you empty words to cheer you up, I’m giving you a different perspective on things.

It hurts to know that hopefulness and optimism are now considered traits of children.
You know what? It is hope that thrums through the hearts of revolutionaries throughout the Middle East. When you ask people how they are living through it, how they continue to fight, they are hopeful. They tell you that they are struggling now, but their hope to taste the sweetness of freedom outlasts all the bombs, all the blood, all the tears.

Hope is like determined drops of water weathering away at the stone cold dam, relentlessly going at it until it can trickle sweetly through the other side. To burst from its restraints and pour down, free to become a thundering current once more. So don’t you dare tell me that hope is “cute”.

Hope is a powerful warrior in itself.

Enemies Quote

I agree with this quote to a certain extent. Sometimes if you speak your mind, you are bound to have people who disagree with you completely. Depending on the person, they might not want to talk to you. They might try to disagree with anything you say just to get back at you.

However, some people justify rude actions with this quote. Saying things to others that are offensive or racist and getting hate out of that does not make having enemies a good thing. It quite frankly means you're being an insensitive, disrespectful jerk.

Take this quote however you want, but overall I think it means stay true to yourself and your core values and stand up for what you believe is right. If it's a sensitive topic though, you have to be thoughtful of how other's may feel. Don't bash the opposing side, though. That makes you the bad guy.

Leading Quote

Put your fears aside and step up to the plate. Move forward and don't look back. Above all, stop being afraid to be a leader; believe in yourself and trust what you know to aid your judgement.

Greatness Quote

Stop asking and start working on it! I'm serious. The more you talk about achieving something, and whether you want to do it, the more time you take away from actually working on it. Initiate plans and start working on them, there's time to brag about your great ideas later.

Great Minds Quote

I think people should really consider this one; it would be wonderful to have heartfelt, meaningful conversations with people more often. Ideas would spread so quickly we might as well call it a new Renaissance age. However, our generation has succumbed to an ignorant bliss. We value what a movie star says and does more than we value ourselves. We idolize people just because they're on TV. We strive to become their number one fans and get them to know of our existence.

This precious time we spend talking about others should be time to think about ourselves and what we can do to leave a footprint on this world. Do you want people to remember you as the one who talked about people, or do you want them to remember you as the one who was talked about because of all the ideas you have provided to the world?

Live your life. Stay true to your heart. Follow your dreams. Know that anything is possible.

Happy Monday everyone!

Monday Musing: Chameleons

If you put a chameleon in a mirrored box what color would it change into?

Is it boggling your mind? I looked it up for you; as it turns out, a chameleon would be very stressed in this situation, and that a chameleon's change relies on both temperature and mood. Since he'd be stressed, he'd be a darker color, like a brown or black.

Cool right? Though, I'm not going to lie, I was hoping it'd turn reflective or something.

Monday Musings

From this Monday onward, I'm going to put up a quote or thought to ponder and just get your week rolling. Also because I like the phrase Monday Musings.

Today's muse: Phonics, which is by definition, a method of teaching people to read by correlating sounds with letters, is not spelled the way it sounds.

Weird, huh?
